Through our eyes, our brain follows the rhythm of the sun and secretes melatonin to fall asleep when the sun sets. This is called the circadian cycle.

The artificial light used in the evening (light bulbs, screens, LEDs) disrupts the secretion of melatonin. The eye does not perceive that it is night, which leads to:

  • Difficulties in falling asleep
  • A shorter sleep time
